Hanoi Temporarily Suspends Hoan Kiem Pedestrian Street During Tet Holiday

The People’s Committee of Hoan Kiem District has requested the temporary suspension of activities in pedestrian spaces across the district during the Lunar New Year holiday of the Year of the Wood Tiger 2024. The announcement was made on January 25.

To facilitate convenient movement for residents and tourists during the Tet holiday, the local authorities will temporarily halt the operations of pedestrian areas around Hoan Kiem Lake and its vicinity, as well as the pedestrian streets in the Old Quarter of Hanoi.

The suspension period will be from February 9 (the 30th day of the lunar calendar) and will resume at 7:00 PM on February 23 (the 14th day of the first lunar month).

The People’s Committee of Hoan Kiem District has urged units and commune-level People’s Committees in the area to proactively coordinate and effectively implement assigned tasks. This includes ensuring urban security, order, traffic safety, environmental hygiene, fire prevention and fighting, and the overall safety of residents and tourists.

On the Lunar New Year’s Eve, two fireworks display locations, combining high and low-altitude displays, will be organized in Hoan Kiem District. The locations are in front of the headquarters of Hanoi Moi Newspaper and in front of the Hanoi Post Office.
