Traveling to Hue is one of my most interesting trips. Not only did I admire the ancient beauty of the ancient land, but I also enjoyed unique and flavorful Central Vietnamese cuisine. Let’s refer to my reviews of traveling to Hue to get the best experience for your upcoming vacation.

2/ When is the best time to travel to Hue?
If you intend to travel to Hue, you need to find out the best time to visit. Hue has many scenic spots and delicious dishes that you should try. Therefore, if you visit Hue in good weather, you will easily explore the beautiful ancient land without being interrupted by sudden rains.
Based on my experience of traveling to Hue, the summer in Hue is hot and lasts from March to August. The rainy season in Hue often has storms and floods from October to January. The winter is cold, sometimes with temperatures below 10°C. The spring in Hue is the most pleasant, from January to the end of March. Therefore, with my independent travel experience to Hue, you should visit Hue in the spring to enjoy the cool air and comfortably admire the beauty of this place.
- From January to March: The weather is cold, trees are sprouting, and the scenery is beautiful. Suitable for enjoying the gentle beauty of Hue.
- April: Festival season in Hue. Lively atmosphere, vibrant, and beautifully decorated streets. If you like extravagance, you can travel to Hue at this time.
- From May to July: The weather is cool and dry, making it the best time to travel to Hue, especially in early August.
- Especially, if you plan a 2-day motorbike trip to Hue, choosing the right time is crucial. Good weather helps you conveniently visit the ancient capital of Hue at night.
3/ Should you travel to Hue? Impressive characteristics of Hue
Traveling to Hue brings many emotions and impressions to international tourists. If anyone has been to Hue, they will surely be attached to this land and reluctant to leave. Many people have asked, what is so beautiful about traveling to Hue that makes countless tourists want to come back? It’s hard to describe in words without setting foot in this ancient land.
Hue has beautiful and unique architecture: The system of palaces, royal tombs, and Hue tombs bear the ancient architecture of the Nguyen dynasty with solemn, ancient, and majestic features. Nowadays, these architectural works, despite many renovations, still retain the essence and soul of Vietnam. It is a green, clean, and beautiful city: When traveling to Hue, tourists can easily see images of people participating in environmental protection campaigns, cleaning the streets, picking up garbage along the Perfume River, and encouraging visitors to move by bicycle. These small things contribute to creating a “green – clean – bright” city in the eyes of tourists. Friendly and gentle people: The people in Hue are particularly close and friendly. 4/ Travel to Hue by what means of transportation?
If you have a lot of time, you can combine traveling to Hue – Da Nang or choose a tour to travel to Hue. Regardless of your choice, the means of transportation are similar.
You can use the following vehicles:
4.1. Airplane
This is the most convenient and fastest means of transportation for tourists from other provinces to the tourist area of Hue. Most domestic airlines now have direct flights to Phu Bai Airport, Hue. The flight from Hanoi to Hue takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes, and from Ho Chi Minh City to Hue takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes. Round-trip ticket prices from Hanoi to Hue are around VND 1,600,000, and from Ho Chi Minh City to Hue are from VND 1,300,000.
4.2. Passenger car
If you live in nearby areas, choosing a passenger car is quite suitable because the travel time is short, and the cost is relatively low. If you are in distant provinces, you can choose a sleeper bus for transportation. From Hanoi to Hue, you can refer to buying tickets from popular bus companies such as Hung Thanh, Camel, Duc Thinh, etc. The Hanoi – Hue route takes about 12 – 14 hours with prices ranging from VND 250,000 – 300,000.
It takes about 20 hours from Ho Chi Minh City to Hue. The price for the route from Ho Chi Minh City to Hue ranges from VND 450,000 – 600,000. Some popular bus companies on the HCMC – Hue route include Hoang Long, Huong Ty, Minh Phuong, etc.
4.3. Train
If you have a lot of time to travel to Hue and enjoy the scenery along the way, choose the train. Train ticket prices are not too expensive. Trains usually have hard seats, soft seats, sleeping beds, and air-conditioned or non-air-conditioned compartments. Ticket prices range from VND 400,000 – 900,000 depending on the type of seat and departure point. If traveling far in the hot season, you should choose trains SE3, SE1, and buy air-conditioned sleeper tickets for comfort and a shorter travel time.
5/ Transportation in Hue
Moving around in Hue is quite easy. You can choose the following means of transportation for your trip to Hue:
- Taxi: Taxis are a very popular type of transportation, convenient for tourists, especially those traveling in groups or during bad weather. However, taxi costs are quite expensive, so you should consider it.
- Motorbike: To proactively travel to Hue and explore local cuisine, you should rent a motorbike. The rental price is not too high, ranging from VND 100,000 to 200,000 per day.
- Cyclo: In the ancient land, you can also experience moving by cyclo to enjoy the fresh and peaceful air here. Prices range from VND 40,000 to 70,000 per trip depending on the itinerary.
- Car rental: If you want to visit many attractions, you can rent a tourist car. Rental prices for 4-seater, 7-seater, and 16-seater cars range from VND 400,000 to 1,600,000 depending on the itinerary.
