5 Most Romantic Autumn Destinations in Vietnam

Apart from Hanoi, Ha Giang, and Da Lat, other destinations like Lan Ha Bay or Phu Quoc are considered “captivating” by tourists during the autumn season, according to Booking.

Booking, the booking application based in the Netherlands, today announced a list of the 5 “most romantic” destinations in Vietnam for the autumn season. These locations were selected based on reader surveys conducted on the website, insights from Booking’s travel experts, and criteria such as landscape, weather, and accessibility by public transport.

Hanoi

In the cool autumn weather, Hanoi becomes “intertwined with fragrances” emanating from milk flower trees, flower vendors on street corners, and delicious dishes made from new sticky rice. During the autumn season, milk flowers bloom white along Phan Dinh Phung Street, Quan Thanh, Quang Trung, and around West Lake. Take a stroll through Hanoi’s Old Quarter, explore its narrow alleys, find a café or street food stall, and savor sticky rice with a few sweet donuts while enjoying the autumn air.

Accommodation suggestion: Just a 2-minute walk from Hoan Kiem Lake, May De Ville Luxury Hotel & Spa is a modern and cozy hotel. The hotel is close to famous attractions such as Ngoc Son Temple, the Opera House, and the Cathedral.

Lan Ha Bay

Ranked second on the list is Lan Ha, located south of Cat Ba Island in Hai Phong, recognized as one of the most beautiful bays in the world by the World’s Most Beautiful Bays Club in 2020. The distinction from Ha Long is that most of the islands in Lan Ha are covered with a fresh green color from trees.

For those seeking a destination with spectacular natural beauty but not too crowded or those who have visited Ha Long and want a new experience, Lan Ha Bay is an ideal choice, according to Booking.

Accommodation suggestion: Lan Ha Floating House in Cat Ba offers a sea view, along with a garden, a bar, and a private beach. This accommodation is also close to famous attractions such as Monkey Island and Beo Wharf.

Ha Giang

In autumn, the Dong Van Plateau is covered with fields of triangular buckwheat flowers in white and shades of pink. Many tourists choose to travel to Ha Giang by motorbike to fully appreciate the beauty that only appears near the end of the year in this region.

For the local people, buckwheat is an important cereal, often planted after the summer rice crop. During the autumn journey, tourists not only enjoy the vibrant flowers but also have the opportunity to taste wine and cakes made from buckwheat.

Destination suggestion: Panhou Retreat in Hoang Su Phi is a resort with bungalows by a small lake and a garden. Guests can sign up for trekking tours with local guides, participate in cooking classes, experience herbal baths, and enjoy relaxing massages.

Da Lat

Da Lat is suitable for travel at any time of the year. In autumn, the city is filled with the yellow of wild sunflowers. Upon arriving in Bao Loc, visitors can already see sunflowers adding color to the pine-covered hills in the mist.

With a cool climate year-round, especially chilly at night, Da Lat is an ideal destination for those looking to escape the heat.

Accommodation suggestion: Da Lat Edensee Lake Resort & Spa is 10 km away from the city center and 30 km from Lien Khuong Airport. Tuyen Lam Lake creates a beautiful landscape and a tranquil space for the resort.

Phu Quoc

Ranked fifth is Phu Quoc, the largest island in Vietnam, famous for its white, smooth sandy beaches, and traditional fishing villages. October to November is the perfect time to visit Phu Quoc because it’s the beautiful season on the island.

Tourists have numerous experiential activities: immersing themselves in the clear blue sea, cycling to admire the scenery, kayaking, snorkeling to see coral reefs, visiting pepper gardens, traditional fish sauce production facilities, and pearl farming.

Accommodation suggestion: Located right on the beach, Ocean Bay Phu Quoc Resort & Spa is a 5-star accommodation near famous attractions such as Ong Lang Beach and Sung Hung Pagoda.

Booking conducted the survey from August to the end of September, and the respondents were those planning or deciding on a trip, with travel plans in the next 1-2 months.

“This is the time for us to slow down, take a leisurely stroll together, enjoy the beautiful natural scenery before the cold winter sets in,” the booking platform noted.
